PLATTEVILLE – Kyle Steiner (Grafton/Grafton) (Sr.-Grafton) ran a NCAA Division III provisional qualifying time in the 400-meter hurdles, winning the event in 54.01 seconds today at the Nike/Impact Sports UW-Platteville Invitational.
The meet was originally scheduled to take place on Saturday, but weather forced it to today. Nicholas Ver Duin (Howards Grove/Howards Grove) (Sr.-Howards Grove) was also victorious in the 200-meter dash as he won in a time of 21.83 seconds. Brad Koback (Amherst/Amherst) (Jr.-Amherst) took the top spot in the 400-meter dash, posting a time of 49.32 seconds. Tim Thornburg (Fr.-Delafield/Kettle Moraine) won the 3,000-meter steeplechase in a time of 9:45.20. Adam Lang (Sheboygan/Sheboygan Lutheran) (So.-Sheboygan Lutheran) was second in the 800-meter run and Kris Riggs (Stevens Point/SPASH) (Fr.-Stevens Point/SPASH) was second in the 110-meter hurdles.
In field events, Evan Hutchinson (Fr.-Green Bay/Preble) placed second in the long jump, leaping a distance of 20'-10”. Chris Petrie (So.-Glenbeulah/Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah) was also second in the triple jump with a mark of 44'-0.75”.
The Pointers will be in action again on Friday when they compete at the Augustana Invitational. The meet is scheduled to begin at noon.
