Pointers Compete at Last Chance Meet

STEVENS POINT – The UW-Stevens Point women's track and field team had one final chance to qualify for Nationals next weekend at today's Last Chance Meet in the Multi-Activity Center.

Liz Caine (Jr.-Plover/SPASH) ran the fastest time in the 55-meter dash at 7.33 seconds. She ran her fastest time last night at the last chance meet in Whitewater, finishing the 55-meters in 7.27 seconds. That is the 18th fastest time in the country. The Pointers 4x400-meter relay team ran the second fastest time today, finishing in 3:55.28 seconds. It was the fastest time ran this season by the team and it is faster than the last national qualifier last season.

Angela Steffans (Sr.-Cottage Grove/Madison LaFollette) also took part in yesterday's last chance meet down in Whitewater and set a new personal record in the 800-meter dash, running in a time of 2:15.38 seconds, which is a provisional mark and the 15th fastest time in the country.

The 24th annual NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships will take place next Friday and Saturday at the ONU Sports Center hosted by Ohio Northern University. Events begin at 11:30 a.m. Friday.
