Pointers Compete at First Chance Meet

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – The UW-Stevens Point women's track and field team began the outdoor season today at the North Central College First Chance Meet.

The Pointers scored 149 points to place third out of five teams. North Central was first with 226 points and Wheaton College was second with 194 points.

Liz Caine (Jr.-Plover/SPASH) placed first in both the 100 and 200-meter dash. Caine ran a time of 12.58 seconds in the 100-meter dash and 26.48 seconds in the 200-meters. Andrea Irvine (Green Bay/Bay Port) (Sr.-Green Bay/Bay Port) had the fastest time in the 400-meter dash at 59.34 seconds. Hannah Dieringer (Spencer/Spencer) (Sr.-Spencer) won the 10,000-meter run, finishing in a time of 38:53.0 seconds. The 4x100-meter relay team was also victorious with a time of 49.9 seconds.

In field events, Angela Sheridan (Dubuque, IA/Wahlert) (Jr.-Dubuque, IA/Wahlert) was first in the shot put, throwing a distance of 38'-11.75”. Sheridan was also second in the hammer throw and third in the discus.

The Pointers will compete in the UW-Oshkosh Invitational next Saturday. Events begin at 10 a.m.
