NAPERVILLE, Ill. – The UW-Stevens Point men's track and field team kicked off its outdoor season today as it competed at the North Central College First Chance Meet.
The Pointers finished second out of four teams with 146 points. North Central College won with 255.50 points. In third place was Wheaton College with 106 points and Harper was fourth with 97.50 points.
Keith Ingram (Milwaukee, WI/Riverside) (Fr.-Milwaukee/Riverside University) had the fastest time in the 200-meter dash as he finished at 22.25 seconds. Kyle Steiner (Grafton/Grafton) (Sr.-Grafton) won the 800-meter run with a time of 1:59.54 seconds. Cory Baumann (Marathon/Marathon) (Sr.-Marathon) also won the 3,000-meter steeplechase, posting a time of 9:42.4 seconds.
In field events, Chris Petrie (So.-Glenbeulah/Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah) won the triple jump, leaping a distance of 44'-3.5”. Matt Sonnenberg (Nekoosa/Nekoosa) won the hammer throw with a distance of 147'-09”.
The Pointers will compete in the UW-Oshkosh Invitational next Saturday. The meet begins at 10 a.m.
