ADA, Ohio – The UW-Stevens Point women's track 4x400-meter relay team placed sixth today at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships at Ohio Northern University.
The Pointers 4x400 team of Andrea Irvine (Green Bay/Bay Port) (Sr.-Green Bay/Bay Port), Angela Steffens (Cottage Grove/Madison LaFollette) (Sr.-Cottage Grove/Madison LaFollette), Kathleen Folbrecht (Jefferson/Jefferson) (So.-Jefferson), and Laura Simonis (Rosholt/Rosholt) (Jr.-Rosholt) ran a time of 3:55.79 seconds to finish sixth. On Friday night, Angela Steffens (Cottage Grove/Madison LaFollette) competed in the 800-meter run where she ran a time of 2:18.86 seconds, which was not fast enough to put her in the finals.
The relay team gave the Pointers three points to finish tied for 51st out of 67 teams. Illinois Wesleyan won the national championship with 30 points.
The Pointers will begin the outdoor season on March 29th at the North Central Invitational. Action begins at 12:30 p.m.
