Pointers Place Fifth at WIAC Indoor Championships

SUPERIOR – The UW-Stevens Point women's track and field team climbed one spot on day two to finish in fifth place out of nine teams in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Indoor Track and Field Championships held at Lydia Thering Fieldhouse on the campus of UW-Superior.

UW-La Crosse won its eighth indoor title in the last nine years with 192.33 points. UW-Eau Claire was second with 137.83 points. UW-Oshkosh was third with 115.50 points and UW-River Falls was fourth with 74 points. The Pointers were fifth with 51 points.

Liz Caine (Jr.-Plover/SPASH) placed second in the 55-meter dash with a time of 7.37 seconds. Caine was also fifth in the 200-meter dash, topping the fieldhouse mark. Andrea Irvine (Green Bay/Bay Port) (Sr.-Green Bay/Bay Port) was fourth in the 400-meter dash, posting a time of 59.76 seconds. Angela Steffens (Cottage Grove/Madison LaFollette) (Sr.-Cottage Grove/Madison LaFollette) was third in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:16.12 seconds.

The Pointers 4x400-meter relay team was third, breaking a fieldhouse record with a time of 4:02.60 seconds.

The 24th annual NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships will take place Friday and Saturday, March 14-15 at the ONU Sports Center hosted by Ohio Northern University.
