Pointers Finish Fifth at Eastbay

STEVENS POINT – The UW-Stevens Point women's track team finished fifth today out of 12 teams at the Eastbay Invitational in the Multi-Activity Center.

UW-Eau Claire was first with a total of 125 points. UW-Oshkosh was right behind them with 123 points to finish second. The University of Minnesota-Duluth was third with 113 points, Winona State was fourth with 100 points, and the Pointers had 81 points to round out the top five.

Liz Caine (Jr.-Plover/SPASH) won the 55-meter dash with a time of 7.42 seconds. Also winning was Hannah Dieringer (Spencer/Spencer) (Sr.-Spencer) in the 5,000 yard run with a time of 18:51.43. The 4x400-meter relay team won, posting a time of 3:56.72. The time was a NCAA provisional qualifying mark

Other top Pointer performers include Andrea Irvine (Green Bay/Bay Port) (Sr.-Green Bay/Bay Port), who was second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.38 seconds. Kathleen Folbrecht (Jefferson/Jefferson) (So.-Jefferson) was also second in the triple jump with a distance of 10.79 meters.

The Pointers will be in action next Saturday when they compete in the UW-Platteville Invitational. Events begin at 10:30 a.m.
