After nothing was scored in the second period, the Pointers needed a goal in the third to send the contest into overtime. Michelle Sosnowski (Plainfield, IL/Plainfield Central) (Jr.-Plainfield, IL/Central) and Sarah Phillips (Kelowna, B.C./St. George's School (RI)) (So.-Kelowna, B.C./St. George's School, RI) had the assists.

Then in overtime the Yellowjackets prevailed as Gina Baranzelli put in a rebound with 1:43 left to give the Yellowjackets the 2-1 victory.

The Pointers had a 31-20 advantage in shots. Both teams had four penalties apiece with the Pointers going 0-4 on the power play and the Yellowjackets going 1-for-3.
