STEVENS POINT – The UW-Stevens Point women's track team placed third out of 11 teams today in the 2008 Pointer Invitational in the Multi-Activity Center.
UW-Oshkosh took first with 177.50 points and UW-Eau Claire was second with 97 points. The Pointers collected 88 points to finish third and UW-Platteville was fourth with 72 points. Carroll College finished fifth with 70 points.
Liz Caine (Jr.-Plover/SPASH) was the lone individual runner to win an event today as she was first in 55-meter dash, winning in a time of 7.35 seconds. The Pointer 4x400-meter relay team was also victorious, posting a time of 4:01.65 seconds.
Ashley Woest (Abrams/Pulaski) (Jr.-Abrams/Pulaski) ran second in the one-mile run with a time of 5:18.19. Erin Faller (Marinette/Marinette) (Fr.-Marinette) was fourth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.05 seconds. Also finishing fourth was Stephanie Hennings (Kiel/Kiel) (Fr.-Kiel) in the triple jump, leaping a distance of 34'-1.25”.
The Pointers will compete at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Indoor Track and Field Championships next Friday and Saturday at UW-Superior. Events begin at 9:30 a.m. Friday.
