DECORAH, Iowa - Janelle Van Gomple (DeForest) scored a team-high 14 points leading four Pointers in scoring double figures as UW-Stevens Point defeated the Norse of Luther College 68-39 in non-conference women's basketball action Friday night.
The Pointers trailed only once, at the start of the first half, 3-2 before building an 18 point first half lead, 38-20.
In the second half, it was all UW-Stevens Point, as the Pointers shot 41 percent from the floor (13-31) and capitalized on 23 Norse turnovers to tally 24 points and got 25 bench points to cruise to the 29 point victory.
Jessi Sporle (Mineral Point/Mineral Point) (Mineral Point) tallied 11 points and had a team-high nine rebounds while
Britta Petersen (Luck/Luck) (Luck) and Andra Flease (New London) each scored 10 in the victory.
The win was the fourth straight for the Pointers, who are now off for winter break and return to action on Dec. 30 when they host Edgewood College at 5 p.m.
