Men's Cross Country Finishes Fourth at NCAA Championships

MADISON, Ind. - The UW-Stevens Point men's cross country team finished fourth out of 32 teams at the 2008 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships on Saturday morning. The Pointers were led by their top finisher in Dom Meyer (Beloit) who finished 27th at the meet with a time of 24:54.98.

SUNY-Cortland took home the 2008 National Championship with a team time of 2:04:29.86. UW-Stevens Point came in 1:49 seconds behind Cortland, finishing with a total time of 2:06:18.54 and the top Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) team at the event.

Other top finishers for the Pointers are Cory Towle (Waukesha/South)(Waukesha) (25:08.77) finishing 46th, Phil Richert (Andover, MN/Andover) (Andover, Minn.) (25:19.59) finishing 63rd, Joel Heroux (Sturgeon Bay/Sevastopol) (Sturgeon Bay) (25:21.00) finishing 64th, and Jason Lisowe (Chilton/Chilton) (Chilton) (25:34.20) finishing in 91st place.

North Central (Ill.) finished as runner-up with a team time of 2:05:07.00, and Williams took 3rd place at this year's championships with a team time of 2:05:15.72.

On the women's side, UWSP had a single representative competing this year. Kelly Haen, a sophomore from Kaukauna, finished with a time of 22:37.62 for 117th place at the National meet.
