Pointers Improve to 3-0

SAN ANTONIO, Tex. - Khalifa El-Amin (Milwaukee/Rufus King) (Milwaukee) poured in a game-high 26 points and Pete Rortvedt (Minocqua/Lakeland) (Minocqua) added 18 as the Pointers improved to 3-0 as the Pointers defeated Southwestern university 74-59.

After a slow start that included a seven point deficit in the games early minutes, the Pointers rallied to take a one point lead, 30-29, into the locker room.

In the second half, the Pointers opened on a 25-11 run to jump ahead by 14, 55-41, and hold off the Pirates of Southwestern University and earn the 15 point victory, 74-59.

Matt Moses (Fond du Lac/St. Mary Springs) (Fond du Lac) followed up his first career double-double with 10 points on 4-of-6 shooting and added five rebounds and five assists as the only other Pointers to score in double figures.

For Southwestern, it was a balanced attack, with only Andrew McDonald netting double-figures, with 11 points in 24 minutes.

UW-Stevens Point returns to action on Saturday when they face Trinity (Tex.) at 5 p.m. in San Antonio.
