GREEN BAY - St. Norbert used two first period power play goals and added three more goals in the third to hand the No. 6 ranked UW-Stevens Point men's hockey team their first loss of the season on Friday night in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association opener for both teams.

Down two goals after the first period, Brett Beckfield (Plymouth, Minn.) tallied his second goal of the season off a Travis Erstad (Stevens Point, WI/SPASH) (Stevens Point) pass to cut the Pointer deficit to one, 2-1.

In third, it was all Green Knights as St. Norbert added a shorthanded goal at the 14:36 mark and added two more by the 16:09 mark to take a 5-1 lead.

Jon Madden (Brighton, MI/Howell) (Brighton, Mich.) added his fourth goal of the season with :36 seconds remaining on a Pointer power play to make the final 5-2 St. Norbert.

UW-Stevens Point (5-1, 0-1 NCHA) returns to action Saturday evening when they take on the Foresters of Lake Forest in Lake Forest, Ill. at 7:30 p.m. No. 1 St. Norbert (6-0, 1-0 NCHA) plays host to UW-Eau Claire on Saturday at 7 p.m.
