STEVENS POINT - UWSP's Whitney Ofteddahl (Waupaca) tallied 11 kills and
Chantel York (Lake Geneva/Badger) (Lake Geneva) added 20 assists, but it was not enough as the Blue Devils of UW-Stout tallied their first Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference win of 2008, defeating the Pointers 3-1 on Saturday.
The Pointers had an early 7-6 lead in the first set, but the Blue devils opened up the game with a 16-5 to go ahead 22-12 and cruised to a 25-16 win.
After Stout won the second set 25-22, the Pointers came back with a 25-19 victory in the third set, jumping out to the 18-9 lead and coasting to the win. Stout answered back in the fourth set, capitalizing on nine attack errors by the pointers and hit .320 (10-2-25) to take the set and the match, 25-16.

Amanda Mix (Brookfield/East) (Brookfield) added 16 digs in the losing effort while
Mandy Meyer (Eagle River/Northland Pines) (Eagle River) tallied 11 assists.
For Stout, Jenna Swanson (Hayfield, Minn.) led the w2ay with 14 kills and Maggie Meixl (Mankato, Minn.) added 11. Alicia Mizer (Barron) led the team with 13 digs.
UWSP (9-13, 1-4 WIAC) travels to De Pere to face St. Norbert on Wednesday, Oct. 8 in a 7 p.m. match-up with the Green Knights. Stout will host UW-Superior on Oct. 8 in Menomonie at 7 p.m.
