OSHKOSH - The UW-Stevens Point men's cross country team wrapped up the regular season competing at the UW-Oshkosh Men's Cross Country open on Friday, as five Pointers finished in the top-10. No team scores were kept for the event.
Mark Mitchell (Franklin/South Milwaukee) (Franklin) was the top finisher for the Pointers, placing second in the 57 runner field with a time of 25:34. Cory Bauman (Marathon) finished second for the Pointers in fifth place, posting a time of 26:03 and
Sean Hasenstein (Sheboygan/Sheboygan Lutheran) (Sheboygan) finished a second behind Bauman for sixth place.
John Pliska (Junction City/SPASH) (Junction City) and
Ryan Stephens (Almond/Almond-Bancroft) (Almond) rounded out the top-10 for the Pointers. Rounding out the race for the Pointers was
Travis Nechuta (Mosinee/Mosinee) (Mosinee), Josh Schaffer (Cottage Grove) and
Tim Rushmer (West Allis/Central) (West Allis) finished 12th through 14th,
Brian Finnel (Forestville/Southern Door) (Forestville) finished 18th, Jacob Cox finished 24th,
Adam Lang (Sheboygan/Sheboygan Lutheran) (Sheboygan) finished 29th and
Jon Trzebiatowski (Rosholt, WI/Rosholt) (Rosholt) finished 30th.
UW-Stevens Point returns to action on Saturday, Nov. 1 at the Wisconsin River Golf Club when they host the 48rd Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Men's Cross Country Championships. The race will begin at noon.
