Pointers Win Regular Season Finale 3-0

STEVENS POINT - The UW-Stevens Point women's soccer team wrapped up the outright regular season Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship Saturday with a 3-0 win over River Falls on Senior Day at the Point Soccer Bowl.

Amanda Prawat (Oregon/Oregon) (Oregon) opened the scoring for the Pointers, as she banged home her 25th goal of the season off an assist from Katie Waterman (Oregon/Oregon) (Oregon). Neither team was able to score the rest of the first half, as the Pointers went into halftime clinging to a 1-0 lead.

But in the second half it was all Pointers as they rattled off 17 shots and added two goals. Jackie Spees (Wisconsin Rapids/Lincoln) (Wisconsin Rapids) scored the second goal of the game just 2:04 into the second half.

Kaylee Weise (Brookfield/East) (Brookfield) knocked in the final goal of the game with 17:36 remaining off a pass from Leah Larson (Mincoqua, WI/Lakeland) (Minocqua) to seal the victory.

The Pointers outshot the Falcons 25-4 in the victory. Rachel Thompson had nine saves in goal for the Falcons.

The Pointers completed a dominating stretch of WIAC play, as they didn't allow a single goal in conference play all year. They outscored conference opponents 47-0 en route to a 7-0 record and their 12th conference championship.

The Pointers will host the opening round match in the WIAC tournament against a to be determined opponent Saturday, Nov. 1 at the Point Soccer Bowl. If they Pointers win they will advance to play the following weekend with the semifinal set for Saturday and the championship on Sunday.
