Meyer Leads Pointers to Second Place at Oshkosh

OSHKOSH - Dom Meyer (Beloit) finished in fifth place and Phil Richert (Andover, MN/Andover) (Andover, Minn.) finished in 11th to lead the UW-Stevens Point men's cross country team to a second place finish at the UW-Oshkosh Brooks Cross Country Invitational on Saturday.

The Pointers top five runners all placed in 23rd or better, with an average time of 24:48. North Central College finished in first place at the invitational, collecting 68 team points to the Pointers 73.

Meyer finished with a time of 24:28 to lead the way while Richert finished in 24:45. Elsewhere, Cory Towle (Waukesha/South) finished 13th (24:46), Nick Schaefer finished 21st (24:57) and Joel Heroux (Sturgeon Bay/Sevastopol) finished 23rd (25:04).

The Pointers return to Oshkosh next weekend for the Oshkosh Dual, their final action before the WIAC Championships, hosted by UW-Stevens Point at the Wisconsin River Golf Club.
