SUPERIOR - The UW-Stevens Point volleyball team was downed by UW-Superior Saturday afternoon in Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action in Superior.
The Yellowjackets took control early, winning the first set 25-16. But the Pointers battled back and won the second set 25-19.
Superior took control in the third set, winning it 25-11. The Pointers were unable to recover as the Yellowjackets took the fourth and final set 25-20 to seal the victory.
For the Pointers, Pamela Nora (Forest Lake, MN) led the way with 12 kills.
Amanda Mix (Brookfield/East) (Brookfield) had a team-high 20 digs and
Chantel York (Lake Geneva/Badger) (Lake Geneva) pitched in 28 assists in the loss.
The Yellowjackets were led by Brittany Jarvis who tallied 10 kills and Samantha Blake who finished with 9 digs.
UWSP (12-19, 1-7 WIAC) will be hosting their alumni scrimmage on Oct. 24 at 7 p.m. at Berg Gym, and then will travel to Whitewater for the UW-Whitewater Tournament Oct. 31 and Nov. 1.
