RIPON – The UW-Stevens Point women's cross country team captured their first invitational title of 2008, running past the field at the Ripon College Cross Country Invite on Saturday afternoon.

The Pointes finished with 26 points, 43 points ahead of second place Carroll College.

All five pointing runners for the Pointer women's team finished in the top-10, with Claire Roberts (Oakfield/Horace Mann) (Oakfield) finishing in third with a time of 21:06, the top UWSP finisher.

Elsewhere, Sandy Hause (Bruce/Bruce) (Bruce) finished in fourth (21:07), Kelly Haen (Kaukauna, WI/Kaukauna) (Kaukauna) finished fifth (21:07), Ashley Woest (Abrams/Pulaski) (Abrams) finished sixth (21:08) and Allison Wolter (Kaukauna/Kaukauna) (Kaukauna) finished eighth (21:14).

Erica Class (Waukesha) and Shaun Krueger (Kiel/Kiel) (Kiel) also competed for the Pointers but did not factor in the team scoring, finishing 14th and 18th respectively with times of 21:51 and 21:58.

The Pointers return to action next weekend when they head to the UW-Oshkosh Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 18.
