RIPON – The UW-Stevens Point men's cross country team ran their way to a first place finish at the Ripon College Cross Country Invite as they dominated the field, finishing 23 points better than second place UW-Oshkosh on Saturday.
The Pointers finished with their top five runners in the top-10, as
Adam Steinke (Hewitt/Marshfield) (Hewitt) finished with a time of 26:44 to pace the Pointers, good for second place. Elsewhere,
Sean Hasenstein (Sheboygan/Sheboygan Lutheran) (Sheboygan) finished fourth with a time of 26:53,
Terry Witkowski (Delafield, WI/Kettle Moraine) (Delafield) finished fifth with a time of 27:00,
Brian Finnel (Forestville/Southern Door) (Forestville) finished eighth with a time of 27:06 and Tim Thornburg (Delafield) finished in 27:09.
Brandon Dworak (Denmark/Denmark) (Denmark) and
John Pliska (Junction City/SPASH) (Junction City) also raced for the Pointers and finished 11th and 12th respectively with time of 27:17 and 27:20.
The Pointers, ranked No. 4 in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association poll, next travels to Oshkosh for the Oshkosh Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 18.
