Pointers Win Illinois Wesleyan Tourney With Tie

Box Score UW-Stevens Point posted its second consecutive shutout to open the season, but was unable to get a goal of its own and settled for a scoreless tie against host Illinois Wesleyan in the title game of the Titans' tournament on Sunday in Bloomington, Ill.

The Pointers held an 18-11 advantage in shots and outshot the Titans 6-0 in the two overtime sessions, however, Illinois Wesleyan goalie Alli Novak made 10 saves to preserve the shutout. UW-Stevens Point was declared tournament champions based on most goals scored after tallying five in Saturday's win over Elmhurst.

It marked the seventh scoreless tie in UW-Stevens Point history and first since 2004. Pointers' goalie Meredith DeCaluwe (Naperville, IL/Central) finished with six saves in the shutout.
