Box Score Kaylee Weise (Brookfield/East) scored two goals as UW-Stevens Point rolled to a season-opening women's soccer victory for the 11th straight year with a 5-0 win over Elmhurst in Bloomington, Ill.
It was the first meeting between the two schools and the Pointers held a 24-1 advantage in shots, getting a goal just 43 seconds into the match from
Liz Kidd (Shorewood/Shorewood) with an assist by
Amanda Prawat (Oregon/Oregon).
Weise gave the Pointers a 3-0 lead late in the first half, scoring both of her goals less than two minutes apart and getting assists on both by
Alison Regal (Appleton/East).
Mary Jean Cornelius (West Bend/West) added a goal with at the 71:11 mark and Prawat followed with a goal assisted by
Brittany Boyer (West Bend/East) at the 79:31 mark.
Meredith DeCaluwe (Naperville, IL/Central) and
Jess Nagel (Waunakee/Waunakee) combined on the shutout with DeCaluwe making one save.
The Pointers take on Illinois Wesleyan on Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
