Home course advantage aided UW-Stevens Point on the opening day of the team's home women's golf invitational on Saturday as the Pointers sprinted to a 20-stroke lead with four of the top six individual performances at the Stevens Point Country Club.
UW-Stevens Point shot a 317 team score to follow its single-day school record 312 from last weekend's UW-Whitewater Invitational. The Pointers, who have lost to one Division III opponent in four meets this season, hold a comfortable lead over second-place UW-Whitewater in the nine-team event.
UW-Stevens Point's Michelle Pascavis (Waukesha/South) led all individuals with a 75 to hold a one-stroke lead over Ripon's Gina Heckl. Sarah Mosher (Evansville/Evansville) and Jessica Urban (Hartland/Arrowhead) are tied for fourth place after both shooting an 80 and Amy Stiloski (Brookfield/Central) sits in sixth place with an 82.
Action continues on Sunday with the first group scheduled to tee off at 9 a.m.
