Golfers Playing at a Higher Level at Illinois Wesleyan

Day 1 Results

UW-Stevens Point has taken its game to a different level this weekend at the Illinois Wesleyan women's golf Invitational, leading all Division III schools and ranking second among 21 teams overall after the opening day in Bloomington, Ill.

The Pointers are among several non-Division III schools at the top of the standings with a 321 team score. They trail Division II Southern Indiana by 11 strokes and lead Division II Southern Illinois-Edwardsville and Rend Lake Community College by one stroke. Illinois Wesleyan is the next-ranking Division III school with a 328.

Freshman Michelle Pascavis (Waukesha/South) continued her hot play with an opening-round 78 after winning last week's UW-Oshkosh Invitational. She is seventh overall and leads teammate Amy Stiloski (Brookfield/Central) by one stroke. Sarah Mosher (Evansville/Evansville) and Katie Kautz (Des Plaines, Ill./St. Viator) are tied for 26th after each shooting an 82.
The meet concludes with another 18-hole round on Sunday.
