UW-Stevens Point extended its volleyball winning streak to seven straight matches and captured the Ripon Invitational with two victories on Saturday in Ripon.
The Pointers opened with a 30-25, 30-20, 30-15 win over Martin Luther (Minn.) and then defeated Carroll 32-30, 24-30, 30-19, 30-27 to improve to 10-4 for the season.
Shelly Maus (Green Bay/Green Bay Southwest) had a big day for the Pointers with 17 kills in the opening match and 20 kills and 19 digs against Carroll. Jill Wittmann (Kewaskum/Kewaskum) totaled 29 assists and 10 digs against Martin Luther and finished with 34 assists and 16 digs against Carroll.
Kayla Behnke (Newton/Manitowoc Lincoln) and Amanda Mix (Brookfield/East) each added 11 digs in the win over Martin Luther, while Gina Guell (Waupun/Waupun) collected seven kills. Against Carroll, Behnke served five aces and Mix amassed 21 digs. Guell had 12 kills and Beth Richter (Green Bay/Preble) tallied 11 kills.
Maus was named to the six-player all-tournament team.
