UW-Stevens Point's softball team stayed red hot by rolling to two more victories in Kissimmee, Fla. on Thursday and extending its winning streak to six games.
The Pointers beat Smith (Mass.) 7-2 in their opening game and then blanked Millikin 6-0 to improve to 10-2 overall for the season.
In the opener,
Mandy Jellish (Kaukauna/Kaukauna) and
Korryn Brooks (Stevens Point/SPASH) were each three-for-four. The Pointers built a 5-0 lead after five innings and led 5-2 in the sixth before
Danielle Ashbeck (Wabeno/Wabeno) broke the game open with a two-run double in the bottom of the inning.
Chelsea McIlquham (Sun Prairie/Sun Prairie) was two-for-three in the victory.
Stephanie Anderson (Milwaukee/King) pitched a complete game for the win, scattering eight hits and striking out nine batters.
Hope Krause (Mishicot/Mishicot) pitched a complete game shutout in the second game with two strikeouts. Krause allowed seven hits in hurling her third career shutout. UW-Stevens Point led 3-0 until scoring three runs in the top of the seventh.
