UW-Stevens Point went down to defeat for the fourth straight time with a 10-5 setback to Western New England on Friday in the final game of the baseball team's spring trip to Port Charlotte, Fla.
The Pointers took a 3-0 lead in the third inning, before Western New England rallied with four runs in the bottom of the third and two more in the fourth. UW-Stevens Point trimmed the lead to 6-5 in the top of the fifth, but the Golden Bears added four more runs in the bottom of the fifth and neither team scored over the final four innings.
Garrett Nix (Osseo/Osseo-Fairchild) took the loss for the Pointers before
Brandon Hemstead (DeForest/DeForest) came on to pitch four and two-thirds innings of scoreless relief.
Brad Archambeau (Watertown/Watertown) was two-for-three with an RBI and
Adam Evanoff (Plover/SPASH) was two-for-five with an RBI.
Ben Warwick (Green Bay/Bay Port) also delivered a run-scoring single for the Pointers.
