UW-Stevens Point is off to a perfect start after sweeping a pair of non-conference volleyball matches from Marian and Northland on Friday at the UW-Stevens Point Invitational Tournament in Stevens Point.
The Pointers took three straight games from Marian winning 30-25, 30-19, 30-11.
Callie Kunde (Burnsville, Minn./Apple Valley) had a big night with 21 assists and 16 kills along with 3 digs.
Shelly Maus (Green Bay/Green Bay Southwest) added 11 kills and
Beth Richter (Green Bay/Preble) had 16 digs in the win.
Pam Nora (Forest Lake, Minn./) served 10 straight points in game three for the Pointers.
Maus totaled 12 kills and just two hitting errors in UW-Stevens Point's 30-27, 30-12, 30-16 win over Northland. Kunde finished with 9 kills and just one hitting error to go along with her 21 assists and 11 digs. Richter added 16 digs, eight kills and two solo blocks in the win.
The Pointers will take on Finlandia and St. Norbert on Saturday on the final day of the UW-Stevens Point Invitational Tournament.
