The UW-Stevens Point nine-game winning streak came to an end on Saturday as the Pointers dropped three games to St. Norbert in their second match of the day at the UW-Stevens Point Invitational Tournament.
In their first match, the Pointers took three straight games from Finlandia winning 30-13, 30-12, 30-20. Freshman Pam Nora (Forest Lake, Minn./) served 10 straight points in game one for the Pointers and had four kills with only one error for the match. Callie Kunde (Burnsville, Minn./Apple Valley) had a big morning for the Pointers with 15 assists, 12 kills, 11 digs and one block.
The Pointers battled St. Norbert hard in game one of their afternoon match up. With the game tied, 18-18, St. Norbert scored eight consecutive points to take the 26-18 lead and the Pointers failed to regain the momentum.
Kunde led the Pointers with 21 assists, eight digs, and seven kills. Shelly Maus (Green Bay/Green Bay Southwest) added 12 kills, five blocks and four digs. Kunde and Maus were both selected to the all-tournament team by opposing coaches.
The Pointers are now 3-1 overall and travel La Crosse on Wednesday to take on St. Mary's (Minn.) and Viterbo starting at 5:00 p.m.
