Cathy Thornburg and Ann Robbins (Lodi/Lodi) each won their opening match as the UW-Stevens Point women's tennis team placed seventh of eight teams at the UW-Whitewater Invitational on Saturday.

Thornburg won her No. 1 singles match over Jenna Simon of UW-Oshkosh 6-4, 6-1, while Robbins claimed a No. 3 singles win over Blair Hubbard of UW-Oshkosh 6-2, 7-5. Both players finished fourth in their respective flight.

In doubles, Emily Riordan (Appleton/North) and Kaitlyn King (Plover/Stevens Point Pacelli) won a consolation match at No. 2 with an 8-5 win over Whitney Tornow and Cory Salo of UW-Oshkosh
