Pointers' Rally Falls Short in Closing Seconds

The Pointers trailed by five points and a late rally fall short in the final seconds. Nathalie Lechault (Chavannes de Bogis, Switzerland/Int'l School of Geneva) connected on a free throw with 1:21 left to go in the game to bring the score to 62-58. Following a Pointer turnover with one second left, UW-Whitewater's Trisha Thill missed two free throws in the second, but the Pointers had no time for a final shot.

Both teams started out cold, with the Pointers' Janell Van Gompel scoring the first basket nearly four minutes into the game. UW-Whitewater had four missed baskets and six turnovers while the Pointers had five missed baskets and five turnovers before Van Gompel's score.

Late in the first half the Pointers led the Warhawks 28-20. Tiffany Morton connected on a free throw and Heidi Sonntag hit a layup to head into halftime with the Pointers leading 28-23.
