UW-Stevens Point's sophomore forward tandem of
Amanda Prawat (Oregon/Oregon) and
Kaylee Weise (Brookfield/East) have combined for big offensive numbers all season, but none bigger than in Saturday's 9-0 rout over UW-Stout at the Pointer Soccer Bowl.
Prawat scored a UW-Stevens Point single-match record five goals and also had an assist, overshadowing a three-goal, two-assist performance from Weise as the Pointers improved to 9-3-2 overall and 4-2-1 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The match totals give Prawat 16 goals for the season, while Weise has scored 14 for the year.
UW-Stevens Point dominated from the very beginning, getting a goal from Weise assisted by
Anna Van Stippen (Kimberly/Kimberly) just 4:30 into the match as the Pointers took a 7-0 halftime lead, outshooting the Blue Devils 17-2 in the first half and 30-6 for the match.
Junior defender
Megan Schmidt (Hartland/Arrowhead) converted a breakaway at the 10:25 mark for her first career goal and then, just 40 seconds later, Prawat fed Weise for a goal to put the Pointers ahead 3-0.
Prawat scored an unassisted goal at the 17-minute mark and Weise scored off an assist from Schmidt less than six minutes later to make it 5-0. Prawat then took over with four straight goals, getting two more in the first half and two in the first 18 minutes of the second half. The Pointers went scoreless for the final 27 minutes of the contest with goalies
Meredith DeCaluwe (Naperville, IL/Central) and
Pam Luckow (Kaukauna/Kaukauna) each making a save in the shutout.
The win matched the Pointers' biggest ever over UW-Stout, which fell to 4-9 overall and 1-6 in the league. The Blue Devils had allowed just 22 goals over their first 12 matches and had not given up more than four in a match.
