Haak Leads Pointer Runners at UW-Oshkosh Open

Greg Haak (Belleville/Belleville) posted a time of 26:27 over 8,000 meters to pull out a three-second victory at the UW-Oshkosh men's cross country meet on Friday in Winneconne.

Haak led four Pointers among the top seven finishers with his time that was 34 seconds faster than his mark on the same course six days ago. He edged Matt Rehberg of UW-Platteville at the finish for the win. No team scores were kept in the four-team meet.

Josh Schaffer was fourth overall in 26:36, Dan Brinker was fifth in 26:42 and Kyle Johnson (Beloit/Memorial) placed seventh in 27:44 for the Pointers, who rested several of their top runners with the conference meet next weekend.

UW-Stevens Point's women's team ran just six competitors with Tanya Palmer leading the way with an eighth place finish in 21:01 over the 5,000-meter course. Former Pointer Megan Craig won the meet as an unattached participant with a time of 19:11.
