UW-Stevens Point went ahead 2-0 when
Michelle Sosnowski (Plainfield, IL/Plainfield Central) finished off a perfect pass from
Nicole Grossmann (Lindstrom, MN/Chisago Lakes) early in the second period. The Pointers appeared to be cruising along until Scanlon scored the first of her goals off a pass from Kristen Juven. Scanlon added another goal with 3:33 left in the third period, poking home loose puck in front of the net on a power play.
The Falcons were whistled for a penalty with 1:41 left in the third period, but the Pointers were unable to convert the opportunity. UW-Stevens Point also finished the game with a man advantage for the final 1:08, but was just one-for-seven on power plays in the game.
