Box Score UW-Stevens Point had five different players score for the second straight night in sweeping a weekend series from UW-Eau Claire with a 5-1 women's hockey victory on Saturday at Ice Hawks Arena.
The Pointers scored the game's first five goals and rolled to the victory to improve to 14-5-1 overall and 6-4-1 in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association. UW-Eau Claire is 10-10-2 overall and 4-7-2 in the league.
UW-Stevens Point scored twice in the first period as
Nicole Grossmann (Lindstrom, MN/Chisago Lakes) scored shorthanded with an assist from
Madison Darud (Apple Valley, MN/Eastview) and
Katy Lankey (Baraboo/Baraboo) added a goal with assists from
Jenna Daggit (St. Paul Park, MN/Park of Cottage Grove) and
Rachael Graves (Bemidji, MN/Bemidji).
The Pointers added a late second period goal when
Trish Piskula (Antigo/Antigo) scored for the second straight night with assists from Darud and
Kellye Nelson (Lino Lakes, MN/Centennial).
Nelson made it 4-0 at the 4:10 mark of the third period with a goal assisted by Piskula and
Jamie Lewandowski (Rolling Meadows, IL/Fremd) finished the Pointers' scoring with a power play goal assisted by Nelson at the 14:56 mark. UW-Eau Claire scored its only goal at the 16:53 mark as Margaret Campbell scored a power play goal off a pass from her sister, Allie.
The Pointers held a 27-17 advantage in shots with
Amy Statz (Wisconsin Rapids/Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln) making 16 saves. Mikaela Jobman stopped 22 shots for the Blugolds.
