Pointers Post Season-High Total and Rout Auggies

Box Score Seven different players scored goals as the UW-Stevens Point women's hockey team posted a season-high scoring total in an 8-2 triumph over Augsburg on Tuesday at Ice Hawks Arena in Stevens Point.

Jessie Suter scored the game's first goal for the Pointers and was the only UW-Stevens Point player with two goals. She also added an assist as the third-ranked Pointers outshot the Auggies 43-18 for the game and improved to 6-1 for the season. Seven different players recorded the Pointers' eight assists with Jenna Daggit (St. Paul Park, MN/Park of Cottage Grove) notching two.

Michelle Sosnowski (Plainfield, IL/Plainfield Central) and Madison Darud (Apple Valley, MN/Eastview) added goals later in the first period as the Pointers built a 3-0 lead. Katy Lankey (Baraboo/Baraboo) put UW-Stevens Point ahead 4-0 before the Auggies' Jackie Keller scored on a power play with two seconds left in the second period.

UW-Stevens Point scored four times in the third period, including twice in a three-goal flurry over a 19-second span. Sarah Phillips (Kelowna, B.C./St. George's School (RI)) scored for the Pointers before Augsburg's Caryn Quist answered just seven seconds later. However, Suter responded for the Pointers just 12 seconds later for a 6-2 advantage.

Nicole Grossmann (Lindstrom, MN/Chisago Lakes) added an unassisted shorthanded goal and Jessica Edward (Sherrard, IL/Shattuck St. Mary's (MN)) scored to finish the scoring. Ann Hulme (Shaker Heights, OH/Phillips Exeter (NH)) made 11 saves while playing the final two periods in goal.
