Pointers Roll in River Falls

Box Score

Box Score

UW-River Falls has given UW-Stevens Point fits for the past two years. That all ended on Saturday afternoon at River Falls when the Pointers used five first half goals, two of which were scored in the first two minutes in the game, to power pass the Falcons 5-1.

The Pointers struck early against the Falcons when junior Amanda Prawat (Oregon/Oregon) got in on a break-away and scored twenty seconds into the game. Senior Liz Kidd (Shorewood/Shorewood) quickly followed up Prawat's goal when she scored on a header off of an Alison Regal (Appleton/East) pass one minute and thirty-nine seconds later.

The duo of Prawat and fellow junior Kaylee Weise (Brookfield/East) made it 3-0 when Prawat bounced a Weise pass off the crossbar and past Falcon goalie Emily Stieler. That goal and assist marked the ninth time this season that both Weise and Prawat have scored a point in the same game.

Also scoring goals for the Pointers were Emily Walsh (Waunakee/Waunakee) and Mary Jean Cornelius (West Bend/West). Cornelius has scored a goal in each of the last three games. Weise had two assists on the day.

The win was Head Coach Sheila Miech's 297th in her career at UW-Stevens Point.
