Kopp notched three double-doubles and was named MVP of the Captains Classic hosted by Christopher Newport on opening weekend. Kopp racked up 19 kills in both wins on Friday over Randolph-Macon and CNU. She had 19 digs versus RMC and 10 against CNU for the double-doubles on Friday. Then on Saturday against Muskingum, she posted 11 kills and 15 digs to lead UWSP to a 3-0 weekend.
Other nominees
Kate Downie (Women's Golf)
Finished tied for 11th at the UWRF Falcon Invite after posting a total score of 173 (+29) over the weekend. She finished round one on Saturday tied for 14th after shooting an 87 (+15). She managed to cut one stroke off her first round to reach the outskirts of the top 10 with a score of 86 (+14) in round two.
Chloe Leithold (Women's Tennis)
Leithold went 2-0 at last week, earning wins at both No. 2 and 4 singles. Her first win on Friday came against Mayghan Bongle of St. Norbert, as she won 6-4, 6-0 in UWSP’s sweep of the Green Knights. Later in the afternoon, she earned a 6-2, 6-2 win over Ripon at No. 2 singles to assist in UWSP’s second sweep of the day over the Red Hawks. Leithold would also go 2-0 last week in doubles with partner Brooklyn Steier, registering wins at No. 1 and 3 doubles. Their first win of the day came against St. Norbert as they earned an 8-3 victory at No. 3 doubles. Later in the afternoon, they returned to the courts at No. 1 doubles to take another 8-3 win over Ripon. Both wins aided in the team sweep of St. Norbert and Ripon.
Savannah Reed (Women's Soccer)
Reed had a great opening weekend for the Pointers, normally a midfielder, playing goalkeeper. She kept UWSP in both matches against regionally-ranked opponents, making six saves at St. Catherine in Friday’s opener before stopping five shots in Sunday’s home opener versus Saint Benedict.
Brooklynn Steier (Women's Tennis)
Steier went 2-0 last week with partner Chloe Leithold, registering wins at No. 1 and 3 doubles. Their first win of the day came against St. Norbert as they earned an 8-3 victory at No. 3 doubles. Later in the afternoon, they returned to the courts at No. 1 doubles to take another 8-3 win over Ripon. Both wins aided in the team sweep of St. Norbert and Ripon. Steier would also go 1-0 at No. 5 singles. Her singles win would come in the afternoon against Ripon's Yeva Pipan, as she would register a 6-1, 6-0 victory. Steier remains undefeated in singles with a 3-0 career record.

Ryleigh Zeller (Volleyball)
Zeller had a fantastic first weekend in a UWSP uniform earning all-tournament team honors while helping the Pointers go 3-0 at the Captains Classic to open the season. Zeller racked up a team-high 22 digs in each of the UWSP wins on Friday against Randolph-Macon and host Christopher Newport. Then on Saturday against Muskingum, she added 13 digs and served up three aces.
