Downie's championship record round of 69 got her to within four strokes of the individual champion.  She edged out the third-place finisher by one stroke. Downie's second-place finish the best for UWSP since Mary Welch won the individual title in 2011. Her score of 227 for the tournament is tied for the third-best score since the event went to three rounds in 2008.

Megan Lawrence, Softball
Lawrence hit .500 over UWSP’s four games last week against UW-Platteville and UW-River Falls.  In game one versus UWP, she drew a walk, had a single, drove in a run and scored twice.  On Friday, she had two hits, an RBI a stolen base and a run scored in each game of the sweep at UWRF.  Her two stolen bases against the Falcons helped UWSP set a single season stolen bases record.
 

Makenna Tkach, Softball
Tkach went 3-0 with a 0.43 ERA in four outings last week for the Pointers.  She pitched a complete game (6.0) with three strikeouts in the opening game win over UW-Platteville on Wednesday.  In game two versus the Pioneers, she pitched a scoreless frame in relief with another strikeout.  On Friday, she tossed all 5.0 of the run-rule shutout of UWRF in game one.  In game two, she picked up another victory with 4.1 in relief.  She held UWRF without a run for 9.1 frames with 6 strikeouts and no walks.
