Carpenter started game one against Finlandia and threw 6.0 innings in a combined no-hitter.  He struck out 14 and faced just two over the minimum.  Teammates Austin Syvertson and Jacob Meinholz pitched an inning each in the no-no and Aaron Simmons hit a walk-off triple to complete the run-rule win.

Aaron Simmons, Baseball
Simmons slugged 1.571 while going 5-for-7 in UWSP’s sweep of Finlandia in the home opener on Thursday.  In game one, Simmons went 3-for-5 with a walk-off triple to secure a no-hitter.  It was his 10th career triple, tied for the second-most in program history.  In game two, he went 2-for-2 with a double, a grand slam and was hit by a pitch twice.  Simmons scored twice in each game and drove in six over the twin bill.
 

Blake Orr, Men's Track and Field
Orr placed second in the discus throw at the Carroll Invite on Saturday.  His throw of 43.53 meters (142’ 10”) was the fourth-best distance in the conference.  He also ranks in the top-6 in the conference in both the shot put and hammer throw after one outdoor event.
