Other Nominees

Matt Berlin, Wrestling

Berlin improved to 21-0 on the season with a 13-1 major decision at 133 over Josiah Lynden of UW-Whitewater.  The win was his largest margin of victory in a major decision this season.

Zach Zech, Men's Hockey

Zech had four points on the week, including his third two-goal outing of the season.  His first point of the week was an assist on the game-tying goal in UWSP’s 3-3 tie at No. 4 UW-Eau Claire on Wednesday.  On Friday, he scored both goals as UWSP erased a two-goal deficit to earn a point against UWRF.  His assist on Saturday came on the eventual game-winner, a power-play tally versus UWRF.  Zech has a four-game point streak and has at least one point in nine of the last 10 games.

Garrett Nelson, Men's Basketball

Nelson averaged 20 points a game over the Pointers’ two-game league week.  He poured in a career-high 23 points on 9-of-15 shooting from the field (.600) and was 3-for-3 from the charity stripe at UW-Oshkosh on Wednesday.  On Saturday, he added a game-high 17 points, including 9-for-10 from the free-throw line, as UWSP rolled to a home win over UW-Stout.  Nelson added seven rebounds, three assists and two steals on the week.

Tom Kohn, Track and Field

Kohn leapt to a new indoor best of 14.90 meters in the triple jump on his one and only jump of the season this past weekend at the WIAC Tri.  His jump is the second best mark in the WIAC as well as the second-best nationally.

Payton Kilian, Swimming

Kilian earned two individual first-place finishes in the UW-Stevens Point dual meet win against UW-La Crosse this weekend. He topped the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:46.74 and the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 47.88. Kilian also served as the anchor in the first place 200-yard medley relay team, swimming a time of 22.24.
