Gehl became the UWSP all-time leader in kills in Wednesday’s win at UW-La Crosse and now has 1,751, the fifth-most in WIAC history. She racked up double-doubles in all three matches last week. In Wednesday’s win at UWL, she hit .407 with 13 kills and 14 digs. On Saturday, she had 16 kills and 10 digs in a five-set win over Carrroll and added 11 kills with 15 digs versus CUW. Gehl also had six blocks, four assists and an ace on the week.
Other Nominees
Emma Peterson, Volleyball
Peterson continued her solid defensive performance with three solid outings totaling 49 digs last week. She needed just seven digs in UWSP’s sweep at La Crosse on Wednesday. She then returned to double figures with 24 and 18 in Saturday’s matches against Carroll and CUW, giving her 22 matches on the season with double-digit digs. She also recorded nine assists and two aces on the week.
Alexis Anderson, Cross Country
Anderson won the Oshkosh open in a lifetime personal best of 24:57, her first time breaking 25:00, to help lead her team to a second place finish.
Anna Pilecky, Swimming and Diving
Pilecky won both the 1000-yard and 500-yard freestyle in Friday’s dual at UW-Eau Claire. Her winning time of 10:52.68 in the 1000-yard event was nearly 30 seconds faster than the runner-up. She also won the 500-yard event by more than nine seconds with a time of 5:25.54.
