The senior defender aided the Pointers in a 3-0 week without a goal against in 180 minutes of action. Punnett scored three-time on the week, netting a goal in UWSP’s win on Friday. On Saturday, she scored two goals and added an assist. Punnett now leads the team with seven goals on the year. Her defensive prowess helped the Pointers give up just 41 shots on goal over the three games.
Other Nominees:
Taylor Barrett: Barrett extended her double-digit points streak to five-straight with 16 and 11 in league games last week. On Wednesday, she was 5-of-6 from the floor with 16 points, six rebounds and a block at La Crosse. On Saturday, she scored 11 points with five boards and two block at UW-Eau Claire. Barrett is second in the league in scoring (15.5) through the first four WIAC games.
Brennen Miller: Miller sparked the Pointers offense both nights last week, tallying the opening goal in both games. On Friday night, Miller picked up his fifth goal of the season to give UWSP a lead in the first period at Augsburg. The following evening Miller grabbed his second goal of the weekend in the opening frame to help guide UWSP to a 5-1 victory over Saint John's.
Dan Squires: Squires went 5-1 over the weekend at the Budd Whitehill Duals in Williamsport, Pa. He won by fall with just 8 seconds remaining in his match against Wesleyan on Saturday. His other four wins were via decision. His only defeat of the weekend came by a close 5-3 score to NCAA qualifier Deuly Espinal of Cortland.
Adrienne Lewis: Lewis won the 60-meter dash in her first collegiate meet with a time of 8.03 at the Pointer Alumni meet. It is currently the third-best mark in the conference.
Evan Torgerson: Torgerson won his first collegiate race at a distance he’d never run before winning the 600-meter run in 1:23.11 at the Pointer Alumni meet.
Brent Reierson: Reierson won the 35# weight in a personal best of 17.36 meters (56’11 ½”) at the Pointer Alumni. It is currently the best mark in the conference and the 10th-best mark nationally.
