Ryf helped lead a balanced, experienced UW-Stevens Point men's basketball team to its fourth national championship and was named the Most Outstanding Player at the Final Four in Salem, Va. The senior matched his career high with 21 points in just 29 minutes in a semifinal win over Virginia Wesleyan before pouring in 17 points and handing out five assists in the national championship game against Augustana (Ill.). Ryf was also a First Team All-WIAC pick after averaging 12.2 points, 4.1 rebounds and 3.1 assists a game, while shooting 48.1 percent from the field, 46.4 percent from behind the arc and 85.5 percent at the free-throw line. The point guard also excelled defensively, averaging 1.0 steals a game, and was named to the WIAC All-Defensive Team for the third straight season. In addition to winning its fourth national title in 12 seasons, UW-Stevens Point (27-5, 15-1 WIAC) won a share of its 29th WIAC regular season championship. The Pointers then ran through the NCAA Tournament, winning their six games by an average of 18.5 points per game, to finish as the consensus No. 1 team in the country.
