The 2025-26 season marks Duckworth’s 10th year as the director of athletics at UW-Stevens Point. During Duckworth’s nine years at the helm, the Pointers have had great competitive successes including hosting and winning the 2019 NCAA Division III Men’s Hockey National Championship, the University’s 13th team title, three different student-athletes winning individual National Championships, and 13 teams winning regular season or post-season tournament conference championships. In the 2019-20 season, Pointers athletics expanded to 21 sports with the addition of women's wrestling under Duckworth's watch. Jessika Rottier became the first national champion in the sport's first season. In 2022-23, UWSP athletics expanded to 23 programs with the reinstatement of men's golf and men's tennis. Duckworth was also instrumental in adding men's volleyball and women's lacrosse set to compete in 2023-24 and the announcement of men's soccer to begin play in 2024-25.
During Duckworth’s tenure, the Pointers have also been successful in the classroom having several student-athletes win the coveted WIAC Max Sparger Scholar-Athlete Award; an award given annually to one student-athlete throughout the WIAC. The Pointers have boasted a collective 3.10 GPA since the fall of 2016. In addition to academic excellence, the Pointers continue to focus on community service and impact. The Pointers won the 2018 NADIIIAA National Community Service award for their ongoing commitment to community service.
UW-Stevens Point Athletics has also benefited from tremendous philanthropy. Some notable contributions include Jordan and Mandy Zimmermann’s gift which significantly renovated the baseball field, Breck and Sheri Loos became the lead donors in the turf renovation project and started the first endowment for a women’s sport (volleyball), and Dan and Marilyn Hauser created the Dan and Marilyn Hauser graduate assistantship program. During Duckworth’s time at UWSP giving has exceeded $1,000,000.
Prior to Duckworth’s arrival, he served nine years as the director of athletics, head basketball and head golf coach at Alverno College (Milwaukee, Wis). At Alverno, Duckworth left as the all-time winningest basketball coach in school history, launched two new programs (women’s tennis and women’s golf), and served as a direct report of the President. Prior to arriving at Alverno in 2007, Duckworth was the head women's basketball and softball coach at State University of New York - New Paltz.
Duckworth currently serves as the chair of the Central Region and member of the national committee for NCAA Division III women’s softball.
A native of Necedah, Wis., Duckworth completed his doctoral degree in Student Affairs Administration and Leadership from UW-La Crosse in May 2020; the title of Duckworth’s dissertation is NCAA Division III Student Athlete’s Perceptions of Title IX. He received his bachelor's degree in Sport Management and a master's degree in Sport Administration from UW-La Crosse. Additionally, Duckworth has received a master's degree in Business Administration (MBA) from Alverno College.
Brad and Rebecca have one son, Bennett, and one daughter, Beau.
