Nelson enters her second year at UWSP in 2025-26. She came to UWSP after a number of years working in the sports information department at Saint Mary's University in Winona, Minn. There, she helped with game day statistics and video streaming of many of the Cardinals' programs.
 
At SMU, Nelson was also a member of the softball team for three seasons battling through injuries. She spent time running the team's social media for two seasons and gained valuable leadership while carrying a full course load.
 
Nelson earned her degree from Saint Mary's in December 2022, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in public relations and digital media. She is currently pursuing a master's degree in sport and recreation management at Wisconsin Lutheran College.
