Ninnemann enters her 20th season as head coach of the UW-Stevens Point women’s hockey team in 2025–26. During her tenure, the Pointers have enjoyed numerous successful campaigns, highlighted by a third-place national finish in 2006–07. On September 10, 2022, she was inducted into the Wisconsin Hockey Hall of Fame, becoming just the fourth woman to receive the honor. She was inducted into the UWSP Athletics Hall of Fame in 2011 as an individual and with her 2004 National runner-up team.

In April 2025, Ninnemann was honored as the the Jostens College Coach of the Year at the Women’s Coaches Symposium, hosted by the Tucker Center for Research on Girls & Women in Sport at the University of Minnesota.  The award recognizes coaches who care for their athletes holistically, strive for performance excellence, and are committed to giving back.

National success is nothing new for Ninnemann, who experienced plenty as both a player and assistant coach. In fact, she is one of the only people ever to both play and coach in a Division III Frozen Four. She also was an assistant coach in the Frozen Four and became just the third female head coach ever to lead a team to the national semifinals.

Under Ninnemann’s direction the Pointers have posted a 253-203-50 overall record (.549) and her .549 winning percentage ranks 18th among active NCAA Division III coaches. Her 253 wins are 30th all-time among coaches at all divisions. Her teams posted a 70-42-17 mark in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA).

The Pointers earned a berth into the NCAA Tournament in 2013-14.

A standout player for UW-Stevens Point, Ninnemann was the program’s first All-American in 2001–02 and captained the Pointers for three seasons (2002–05). She scored 55 goals and a program-record 69 assists for 124 points, ranking third all-time in goals and fourth in total points. In 2004, she earned all-tournament team honors while helping UWSP to a national runner-up finish. Following her playing career, she served as an assistant coach in 2005–06, helping the Pointers capture a third-place national finish.

In addition to her hockey accomplishments, Ninnemann found success coaching softball. She was part of the UWSP softball coaching staff during its record-setting 33-10 season and NCAA tournament run in 2007, and in 2006, she assisted Stevens Point Area Senior High to a 23-1 record and WIAA state tournament appearance.

A native of Rosemount, Minn., Ninnemann has also been active in player development, working numerous local, district and USA Hockey National camps throughout the country.
