Stacey White

Stacey White continues to take huge strides in getting the UW-Stevens Point volleyball program back into the top half of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference standings.

In 2007, White guided the Pointers to a 23-12 record and a tie for fourth place in the WIAC standings. The record marked the second-most wins for the program under White, second only to the 24 wins in 2006. The last two seasons under White, the Pointers have finished .500 or better in WIAC contests in back-to-back seasons for the first time in program history.

UW-Stevens Point also qualified for its second-straight WIAC postseason tournament, the first time the team has qualified for the tournament in back-to-back seasons since the 2001 and 2002 seasons.

White’s breakout season came on the heels of consecutive years where the Pointers posted their highest victory totals since 1998, finishing 16-19 in 2005 and 21-14 in 2004. Included in the 2005 campaign was a win over then third-ranked and eventual Elite Eight participant New York University.

After winning eight matches in each of her first two seasons, White guided a young Pointer squad to an 11-23 mark in 2003 before their 21 victories in 2004. White enters the 2008 season with an 111-125 career record as she looks to achieve the success she experienced in her playing days at UW-River Falls from 1993-97 where she was a member of UW-River Falls’ 1996 WIAC championship team and also qualified for the NCAA Division III outdoor track and field championships in the shot put and discus.

White, a Monticello, Minn. native, was the head junior varsity coach and assistant varsity coach at Concordia University in St. Paul, Minn. prior to coming to UW-Stevens Point. She graduated from UW-River Falls in 1998 with a degree in Health and Human Performance and added a Master’s Degree in Kinesiology from the University of Minnesota while coaching at Concordia. White has coached two junior Olympic squads, leading the 18-and-under St. Croix Valley team and the 16-and-under Club Tonka squad in Minnetonka, Minn.
