Hockett enters his second season as the UWSP women's tennis coach in 2021-22.
In his first season, he led the Pointers to an 8-4 record, the best record since 2013-14. His team went 4-0 at home reached the semifinals of the WIAC Championships. In 2020-21, Hockett guided the Pointers to four WIAC Athlete of the Week honors, including all three doubles pairs earning the accolade.
Hockett also has a tennis coaching background at the high school level. As the head coach of the Monona Grove boy's tennis team, he mentored 2009 Badger Conference singles champion Korbinian Enzinger. He coached the MGHS boys in 2008 and 2009 and was an assistant for the girls' tennis team at McFarland from 2005-2007. As a player, Hockett was a four-year state qualifier at McFarland High, placing third his junior and senior seasons. In 2002, he was the Badger Conference No. 1 singles champion.
A McFarland, Wis., native, Hockett has a bachelor’s and a master’s degree from the University of Minnesota Duluth. He and his wife, Ann, have two children, Braxton and Braelynn.
