Deena Gordon is in her third season as head coach of the UW-Stevens Point women’s tennis team.
In her first season at UWSP, Gordon led the Pointers to a 10-8 overall record and a 3-3 mark in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC). The 10 wins were the most for the UWSP program since 2009 and the team missed out on a spot in the four-team spring tournament by one point, finishing fifth at the WIAC Championship.
In 2014-15, UW-Stevens Point finished 5-13 overall, including a 2-4 mark in the WIAC. The Pointers placed fifth at the WIAC Championships in the fall.
Gordon graduated from University of Central Arkansas and Marian University earning her BSE in Physical Education and MA in Educational Leadership.
After teaching ten years in the Fox Valley, Gordon has spent the last ten years pursuing entrepreneurial endeavors as creator of Gym Motivators, LLC, marketing educational and inspirational posters for physical educators.
Gordon has also been an active participant in USTA League Tennis and after training with the Professional Tennis Registry has taught privately for the past five years.
Gordon, an Arkansas native, currently resides in Amherst, Wis., with her husband Gary and seven-year-old son Garrison. She also has two older daughters, Courtney and Brittney, students in Appleton, Wis.
